Home or Abroad?

Do you really want to go on a foreign holiday, with deadlines to arrive at the airport, two or three hour check ins, security checks, baggage weight limits, and regulations as to what is permitted in hand luggage?
Then there is the ever present risk of flight delays or cancellations due
to industrial action, fears of or actual terrorism, political unrest,
bankruptcy of carrier or tourist operator, or volcanic ash clouds.
You've also had to worry about currency exchange rate fluctuations.
Even after arrival your problems are not ended, with risk of luggage lost in transit, language difficulties, failure to understand local customs, traditions and regulations, having to drive on the wrong side of the road, and fears of being ripped off due to failure to fully appreciate the currency exchange rate.
On your return you've got to pass through customs, with the risk of having to pay duty on those impulse purchases, or risk having them confiscated.

        why not take a relaxing holiday at home in the UK, with a leisurely drive to your holiday accommodation, with no deadlines, perhaps stopping off somewhere you've always wanted to visit
on the way, taking whatever luggage you want.
No language difficulties, currency problems or driving difficulties.
No visas, or worries about when your passport is due to expire.
Just relax and enjoy yourself in beautiful surroundings.

Update: Since we wrote the above in early 2011 foreign holidays have become even more problematical, what with the Financial problems of Euro members
Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy on the Mediterranean Coast; the financial problems hitting one of the major UK Tour Operators resulting in their share price
being slashed by 75%, and the Rioting and Revolutions affecting Syria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia, to say nothing of the risk of kidnap by Somali pirates at
sea or on the coast of Kenya.
